Hi, I’m Ben, owner of Ben’s Repurposed Cabinetry,  nestled here against the magnificent Rocky Mountains in Northern pic1Colorado. I teach 5th and 6th grade at a small Christian school in Loveland and recycle kitchen after hours and during the summer. I enjoy sports and sitting in bed with my wife, Becky, after a long day listening to a good book. We live in Loveland with our two-month-old daughter, Melanie. Both Becky and I are transplants here: Becky from California, and me from Michigan (which is why my phone number still has a Michigan area code). Becky actually used to teach at the same school I do, which is how we got to know each other. She is now a stay-at-home mother for Melanie. Becky is an amazing wife and mother, and God has truly blessed me by bringing us together.

I first got the idea for this business when Becky and I purchased our first home in March of 2014. We managed to get a decent deal in a terrible buying market, but the house definitely needed a ton of help. Amongst other things, we decided to move the kitchen, a pretty daunting task for a couple of middle school teachers. As we got into the project, we were continually struck by the alarmingly large sums of money that were flying out the door at every turn. We wanted different cabinets, but just couldn’t swallow the many thousands of dollars it was going to take order new custom kitchen cabinetry. Thankfully, we were a little patient and eventually ran across a great deal on some beautiful used cabinets that are still hanging in our kitchen today. This success got me thinking; if we were able to find some used cabinets, there are probably more out there that are going to waste every day. People are renovating all the time, many just for the fun of it. Those cabinets are probably still very usable. Where are they all? We need to find them!

pic4And so the business was born. We have grown a lot since that flicker of an idea and are continuing to evolve every day. Initially, we sold individual cabinets as well as kitchen sets. We are, however, now getting away from that. We decided that our main goal is getting people their dream kitchen on the budget they can afford, and things needed to change in order for us to achieve that. Now, we try to only get the higher-end kitchens, and this has really been a big step forward. The business is growing well, as we often sell kitchen cabinets within a day or two, but do you know what the best part is? This is only the beginning!

Come on down to Ben’s Repurposed Cabinetry and help us write the next chapter in this exciting journey!
